Application Deadline: February 1, 2026

Position Duration: Mid-May 2026 to October 9, 2026

Hickey Bros Research, LLC is seeking to hire seasonal fisheries technicians to join one of the largest aquatic invasive species suppression projects in the country, in Yellowstone National Park. This is a gillnetting position on Yellowstone Lake, which is considered a remote location. Yellowstone Lake lies at the south end of the park at 7700 feet elevation. It is the largest, high elevation lake in North America. This job is labor intensive and requires technicians to work on a boat until gillnetting efforts are met, and boats are cleaned for the next day’s work. Work days are Monday-Friday, starting at 5 am. The crew and captains will meet every morning to go over the daily and weekly schedule. Work hours are dependent on many factors such as catch rates, fishing location, and weather. Technicians work with a crew of 3-4 under a licensed boat captain. Technicians may be placed on an enclosed or open deck boat for the work day, ranging from 32-47 feet in length, and should dress appropriately. Bibs, jackets, and some company work attire will also be provided. Ability to identify, sort, and measure fish is required. Work days and weather can change at any given time, and it is imperative that crews can work efficiently, effectively, and safely.

Our company’s objective is to provide operational expertise in the areas of fisheries assessment through gillnetting efforts, as well as data collection by collaborating with Yellowstone’s scientific community to assist in the management of lake trout, and the restoration of the native ecosystem. Come join our team in Yellowstone National Park as we battle the nonnative lake trout in efforts to rehabilitate the last genetically pure population of Yellowstone cutthroat trout.

Technicians are provided RV units for housing. Due to limited space, technicians are required to live with a roommate. Housing units are to be maintained and cleaned on a daily basis. Housing units are in close proximity to a bathhouse and laundry room. Workers can expect to travel anywhere from an hour or more to the nearest towns for supplies. It is imperative to carry a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a drug and alcohol screening at any given point.
